Before there was Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, Extra, Sam Rubin, or even Barbara Walters, there was Miss Rona. Rona Barrett is one of the best known pioneers and innovators in entertainment reporting and publishing. She developed the first in-depth personal TV specials about the celebrities of film, television, music, sports and politics, and published a series of magazines on the entertainment industry for consumers and for industry insiders, including Rona Barrett’s Hollywood.
In 1966, she began broadcasting Hollywood gossip on the Los Angeles television station KABC-TV. She appeared on TV regularly, going on to appear on ABC's five owned and operated stations around the country. She developed the first in-depth personal TV specials about the celebrities of motion pictures, television, music, sports and politics. As such she paved the way for Walters and many entertainment reporters.
Today, Rona’s focus is on her non-profit Foundation and helping to address today’s growing crisis in care for our most vulnerable seniors.
